On September 13th 2003 Carlos Echenique (AKA Guru) registered PlanetAMD64.com; later that same month he launched what would become one of the largest (if not the largest) x64 communities on the Internet.
Then in August of 2005 (just 2 years after PlanetAMD64.com) he registered Planetx64.com to host product reviews, industry news and editorials. Planetx64.com launched on January 1st 2006 and was (at the time) the only site to evaluate product performance in 64 bit operating systems.
Both PlanetAMD64.com and Planetx64.com remain the best source of information and performance data for 64 bit systems.
But we are more than an AMD or x64 fan site. We have users from all types of computing and have grown to work with all companies and software. We have a great Linux users group, our Folding at Home team continues to climb (currently ranked #62), and we have one of the nicest user groups out there.
Our community keeps just keeps growing and it is because of you, our members that we have grown this way and have the reputation we do.
We want to give something back to you, so starting October 15th and running until January 15th in celebration of PlanetAMD64’s 5th anniversary and in preparation for Planetx64’s 3rd we will be having random as well as planned giveaways, this will encompass all members as well as special giveaways for sponsors and the folding team.
You never know what we will giveaway on any day so keep checking in, the prize list will be here and we will add to it as new items come in.
In addition to all of this we will hold a big contest for the redesign of our logos and our “Best on the Planet” and other review award image, the details of this contest will be posted on the 15th.
Thanks for all of your support and for making both sites what they are today
